An incredible 8 athletes took part in Sunday’s Lasswade 10 race at the weekend. This race seems to draw us back year after year despite the testing course and is a firm favourite on the fixture list. I could bore you with my tales of woe but I’ll spare you the details and just say I had a terrible day. The real question on everybody’s lips was really just how fast is Dermott? The answer is quick coming home in 66:16 and a superb 47th place. Alex came in a few minutes behind in 70:04 followed by Tony in 74:38. Gordon was 4th in 77:55 but was also unhappy with his run which was blighted by a recurring injury. Peter was only a couple of minutes behind in 79:53. Jan took the 5 points in the ladies championship in a time of 84:20 after passing me at about mile 9 on my way to a time of 85:56. Jean was the final finisher for the club and was delighted with her PB for the course of 99:20. Once over the line it was back to the start to finish off the last of the buffet and to contemplate the highs and lows of the day. No doubt the lows will be blocked from memory come next year and we will all be on the start line waxing lyrical about what a great course it is. Mmmm where’s my calendar I’m sure I’m busy next March!
