After Alex and Tony’s good times from last weekend at the Grungemouth 10k, you could tell that they were looking forward to the Dunbar 10k. There was a good pre-race atmosphere at Hallhill, with approx 250 runners milling around. Pre-race favourite was young Andrew Crichton of Dunbar (he did win, even with stopping to vomit twice). Weather was ideal for running, overcast and cool with a gentle breeze. As well as Alex, Tony and myself, Audrey Grigg was representing MDAC. I did manage to keep the back of Tony’s vest in sight for most the race, but too many recent miles paid their price and I plodded the last few kilometres home, in a disrespectful 45 mins and 44 secs. The only saving grace, is that it might get me a high handicap for the forthcoming East Lothian Summer Series. Alex stormed home in a mightily impressive 39 mins and 58 secs, Tony was next in 44 mins and 5 secs. Audrey wasn’t too happy with her 59 mins and 27 secs. So another 5 points for Alex. Possibly too far in front for Dermot to catch him?
