| | The sun was shining on a sun soaked Meadowbank stadium at 8.30 on Sunday morning, when I arrived to join the massed ranks waiting for the Edinburgh Half Marathon, and Half Marathon Relays to start. Unfortunately some baggage check in issues at the start of the race resulted in a 15 minute delay, but before I knew it we were led out from the stadium onto London Road by Bag Pipes. The race itself was fairly flat with some gentle undulations along its length. Starting from London Road, the course took us down towards Seafield, were you run along the water front to Musselburgh and then on to Prestonpans, before rounding back to the Musselburgh Race Course. I found the sun shine burned through the early morning haze early on in the race, and I was extremely glad of the water/energy drink stops every two miles around the course. I found the most challenging part of the course was rounding the 10 mile mark in Prestonpans, to run the final 3 miles into a slight head wind to the finishing line in front of the tiered seating in the Race Course. Alex had a slightly disappointing first half to run home in 1 hour 32 minutes 17 sec, which after his previous days sub 40 minute 10K was still an impressive achievement. I came in at 1 hour 43 minutes and 40 seconds knocking around 30 seconds off my half marathon time at the Meadows Marathon a few weeks ago. Morag and Lyn were separated by seconds at 2hours 38 minutes and 40 sec and 2 hours 38 minutes and 35 seconds respectively. Rhona came in at 2 hours 48 minutes and 51 seconds, ranking 6th for her category.
