The race involves a bit of urban orienteering with each runner given a map of Musselburgh. At each of the twelve turf cutting stations the runners had to collect a letter, with the twelve letters making up the well known Musselburgh phrase, ITS AW OOR AIN ! Under glorious blue skies the seven runners set off from Pinkie playing fields. After station 1, the runners could then visit the other eleven in any order. The winner was Alex Oliver from MDAC, who took a massive eight minutes off his time from last year. Stuart Hay from Dunbar came in second, having jogged round most of the course. Alex Oliver MDAC 48.43 Stuart Hay DRC 52.23 Gordon Eadie MDAC 53.35 Steve Pattison DRC 55.52 Tony Segall MDAC 60.42 Anne Hay DRC 61.41 Stephanie Maclean MDAC 63.11 The weather was so good that the soup and sandwiches (plus a selection of Tunnoch’s caramel wafers and snowballs) were consumed outside. It could almost have been summer ! Very big thank you to Jan Oliver for time keeping and the soup and sandwiches at the end. The butter squash and parsnip soup was worth sweating round the course for.
