Awards ceremony

The awards ceremony for the club will be held on Wednesday 23rd September. Please arrive at 6.30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. start. The venue is the church hall to the rear of St Peter’s Church (100m to left of Lucas ice cream shop). There will be certificates for competitors and trophies for the winners. Everyone; athletes young and old and family members welcome.

Junior Section

There will be no session on the 23rd September, due to the Awards Ceremony. See above.
On the 30th September 2009, the Wednesday evening sessions will be moving indoors to Musselburgh Sports Centre. The under 11’s check in between 6.30 and 6.40 p.m. The session then finishes at 7.30 p.m.
The 11 plus group check in, is between 7.30 and 7.40 p.m. The session then finishes at 9.00 p.m.
There will be no session on the 21st October due to school holidays.

JSB President’s Select

The Club had an excellent representation at the final JSB invitation match.  Congratulations to all our athletes who were selected, and in particular:  Simon Archer first in U11B High Jump and Long Jump;  Kerry Morris first in U15G 100m;  Linzi Moffat second in U15G 800m;  Daniel Ingram second in U15B Triple Jump;  POSSIBLY OTHER MEDALLISTS TOO.

Club Tracksuits

If you know of anyone with a club tracksuit, who has left the club, could you please ask them to return it.  Thanks.

Spikes exchange

The spikes exchange scheme is still ongoing. If you have a used pair (in good condition) of spikes, hand them into the club. The club will then sell them on (on your behalf) to other members for £10. When they are sold, you will be given the £10. Club members will be able to try shoes on, on a Wednesday evening. Ask any of the coaches.

Membership renewal:

A reminder that the annual membership fee was due on the 1st April.
Junior Section: Annual Membership Fee is £15.Membership for the second family member costs £10 and for the third £5. This can be paid to Tony on a Wednesday. As before the club will pay for junior members’ individual membership of Scottish Athletics, which is necessary to compete in competitions. Medals and certificates will not be given out to juniors who have not renewed their membership prior to the Awards Ceremony.

Senior Section: Annual Membership is £25. This can be paid to Roger on a Tuesday.
Remember that with your membership card, you can get 10% discount at Run & Become, Snowlines, Joe Forte (in Haddington) and a discount at the FASIC sports injury clinic.
All members (new and old) are being asked to update their Membership Information Sheet. This is in order to keep all our member’s details up to date.

Festival Race

Due to all our hard work, the Festival Race was a great success. It also cleared approx £1,800.
We are looking for ideas for spending the money. Anything that promotes the club and encourages athletics will be considered. E-mail Gordon Eadie with any ideas you have;

Senior Section (plus coaches, parents..): Christmas night out

Friday 4th December
In a break with tradition, the intention this year is to have a Christmas Night out at the Ravelston Hotel on Friday 4th December. The cost will be £30 per head. This will include a hot and cold buffet. Marilyn Tweedie is collecting £10 deposits.

The hope is that ALL adults involved with the Club i.e. runners, coaches, parents, etc ... and of course we are such a cool bunch of dudes to hang out with, if you only go to one Xmas do, this is the one to pick!!

Turf Cutting race:  Saturday 12th September

Race will be run in an orienteering format (maps will be given out and / or you can run with a local) with checkpoints at each of Musselburgh's Turf Cutting Stations, a total distance of approximately 7.5 miles. The race will start at 11:00 am from Pinkie playing fields and will be open to senior members of MDAC plus the Haddington and Dunbar Clubs. The race will be followed by soup and sandwiches.

The kitchen and changing rooms have been booked at Pinkie. To help with catering, e-mail Gordon if you intend to run;
